The Game Awards 2022 were a blessing in disguise for Bayonetta fans. Not only for their last title, which won the Best Action Game category, but a whole new title was announced amidst the various trailers of the night. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a new upcoming title for the Nintendo Switch focused which will tell a story of years before the first game.
The game will follow Cereza way before she became the Witch of Genesis in a journey through a forest filled with faeries, because those are the monsters that Witches fear. Instead of the bloody, sexy visuals from previous titles, the aesthetics are very reminiscent of a fairytale book, which is the perfect way to tell a story of how an innocent girl became a powerful Witch.

The game is set to be released on March 17, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The visuals are something way different from what we’re used to in the main games, and the trailer shows that the action-packed moments are more reserved for Cereza’s demon Cheshire than herself, as she’s still not that well-versed in witchcraft. She’s good at resolving puzzles though.
The young girl is searching for a way to save her mother who is trapped somewhere in the forest and she’s guided by a mysterious white wolf. Whether that leads to a happy or a bittersweet conclusion, we’ll have to wait for the next year to find out.
Is Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Coming to PCs?
Just like it happened with the series’ two previous titles, the game will most likely continue to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive due to their contract. Although series creator Hideki Kayama has alluded to a chance for the third game to become a multiplatform title, we know Nintendo’s historic with PC releases, and they’re not very positive.
So it’s very likely that the Nintendo Switch will be the only way to enjoy this new prequel for a good while unless something different happens. Which is probably never happening.
