Overwatch servers will go offline on October 3, 2022. The Overwatch team will need time to work on the servers ahead of Overwatch 2’s early access launch on October 4.
In an interview with Eurogamer, commercial lead Jon Spector states, “So roughly a day before Overwatch 2 launches, we’re going to be taking down the Overwatch 1 servers.” He continues to say,
“And then it’s a 27-hour downtime that we’re planning in order to get the Overwatch 2 server stood up and running.”

So if you want to play Overwatch 1 before it shuts down for good, your best bet is to play some matches on October 2 ahead of the big sleep.
Luckily, you’ll be able to update and download Overwatch 2 slightly ahead of launch, so while the servers are offline, you’ll still be able to be ready to go when they come back up on October 4 so no worries there.
