The previous game, Rune Factory 4, was originally released for the 3DS back in 2013. That same year, the development team had to file for bankruptcy. Since Neverland, the company behind classics like Lufia, was shuttering, the future of Rune Factory was unclear.
Marvelous stepped in to rehire the team, forming Hakama with Story of Seasons producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto at the helm. This led to a Switch port of Rune Factory 4, and the full-blown sequel fans will be playing later this month. What a roller coaster!
