Where to Find Bison

There are quite a few reasons you might want to hunt for Bison in Red Dead Redemption 2. Whether you’re doing it for sport or trying to gather enough materials to make yourself a new item, there are a few key areas you can expect to find this iconic animal roaming the world.

If you’re exploring the later areas of the game and on the hunt for Bison, then one of the best places to check is going to be the plain areas in West Elizabeth, southwest of Blackwater. This area is chock full of Bison herds waiting to be hunted and you’re sure to find plenty of the creatures just waiting around for you to sneak up on them and take them down.

If you haven’t made it to Blackwater and West Elizabeth just yet, then you can also find several Bison herds in New Hanover. Good spots to look include the central and southern portions of the Heartlands, as well as the area between Caliban’s Seat and Citadel Rock.

If you’re trying to get your hands on Perfect Skins from the Bison, then make sure you bring along a Long Shot Rifle or a bow with Improved Arrows, as you’ll need one of the two in order to take the Bison down and claim a Perfect Pelt from it. Of course, if you’re just trying to hunt the creatures for sport, then feel free to use whatever weapon you want—just don’t expect to make much money off of the pelt.

Of course, you may find Bison in other parts of the world, but the areas we’ve listed above are by far going to be some of the best hunting spots available for these massive creatures.
