Tears of the Kingdom’s weather system can catch you off guard easily. You approach a region safely and happily, only to see “unbearable cold” near your minimap. While there are armor sets that protect you against the cold, it’s hard to fork out thousands of rupees or dive into caves for them, leaving you with one other option: food! All kinds of foods add cold resistance, with Warm Safflina being one of many examples. If you want to learn more, continue reading to discover where to find Warm Safflina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Warm Safflina Locations in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
The best way to get Warm Safflina is to venture around Gerudo, particularly in Gerudo Canyon and Desert. Since this variant of Safflina spawns in hot climates, Gerudo is a go-to for finding some. There are numerous places to spot this flower, with the screenshot below showing me seeing some at coordinates (-3093, -2999, 0013).
Alternatively, if Gerudo Desert’s weather is a little too intimidating, you can also travel north to Eldin and search around Death Mountain for some Warm Safflina spawn locations. I found my first ever Warm Safflina near Foothill Stable at coordinates (2598, 1200, 0148). Throughout my playthrough, I saw a few more as I traveled north through the mountains, including a few extra spots up in Deplian Badlands.
To prepare for these regions’ hot and cold climates, you’ll want to bring enough weather-resistant clothes and food for your journey. Snowquill armor is my favorite gear choice for the cold, while Flamebreaker armor is a solid option for the heat.
How to Use Warm Safflina in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
Once you get your hands on some Warm Safflina, you can cook with it to create dishes with cold resistance. Below are a few food combinations I’ve tried:
- Warm Safflina + Hylian Shrooms: Spicy Steamed Mushrooms
- Warm Safflina + Raw Meat: Spicy Steamed Meat
- Warm Safflina + Apple: Spicy Steamed Fruit
The ingredients you use with the Warm Safflina will significantly change its effect. For example, the raw meat bumped the status effect up to mid-level cold resistance, while the apple raised the duration from three minutes to eight. Hylian Shrooms provide an extra heart to the dish, allowing you to regain more HP when you eat.
