Despite the overall doom and gloom of the game’s world, Aloy’s dreary post-apocalyptic universe really loves to throw loot at you from every angle. Here is how and where to get easy loot in Horizon Forbidden West.
How to Get Easy Loot in Horizon Forbidden West
To get easy loot in Horizon Forbidden West, take a look around the environment for the various crates, boxes, and chests. Some, like the Ancient Supply Box, provide a handful of helpful crafting resources, like Metal Shards. Others, like some of the crates found inside old-world ruins, contain Small Health Potions and other vital items necessary to upgrade your weapons and armor.
In addition to the usual crates and boxes to search, Aloy can loot fallen machines to take their resources. Some, such as the Scroungers, have a storage container as a weak point on their back, and inside is usually a bunch of resources. But as Machines are made up of metal and circuitry, they have everything you need to craft useful equipment, too.
What is Loot Used For in Horizon Forbidden West?
Most of the loot you find in Horizon Forbidden West is meant for crafting purposes. You can upgrade your weapons and armor, craft ammunition, and prep traps to take down machines easier by following their pathing. But some items, like the Ancient Wreath, have only one use: selling for Metal Shards.
You see, in this world, Metal Shards aren’t just a crafting material, but also a form of currency for many of the civilians still left wandering the world. You’ll want plenty of Shards for both purposes, though.
