If you recently picked up Tighnari or Collei during the current Genshin Impact wish banner, you’re likely looking for a new bow too. Whether you’re shooting for the Hunter’s Path or the King’s Squire, there are plenty of decent options to look out for.
With new weapons also comes new ascension materials. For these, in particular, you need Inactivated Fungal Nucleus to start before moving onto Dormant and Robust Nuclei. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover where to get Inactivated Fungal Nucleus in Genshin Impact.
Where to Get Inactivated Fungal Nucleus in Genshin Impact
The two main methods of obtaining Inactivated Fungal Nucleus are to defeat Fungi enemies and buy them in the store under Paimon’s Bargains.
Paimon’s Bargains
In Paimon’s Bargains, under the Stardust Exchange menu, you can purchase one Inactivated Fungal Nucleus for five Masterless Stardust. Unlike other materials where you can buy over 30 each month, you’re limited to only 16 nuclei this time around. While this is nearly enough for an ascension or two, it’s also the more expensive option.

Defeating Fungi in Sumeru
The free method to get Inactivated Fungal Nucleus in Genshin Impact is to fight Fungi. These enemies are native to the newly-added Sumeru region, so you’ll have to make sure you’ve progressed enough in the story to venture there. To reach Sumeru, you need at least Adventure Rank 35 and must finish Chapter II: Act IV.
While you’ll find Fungi just about anywhere in Sumeru, there are a few locations where you’ll find several in a small area:
- The northern region of Mawtimiya Forest
- In Chinvat Ravine, west of Gandharva Ville
- Surrounding Pardis Dhyai
- East of the Ruins of Dahri, in the southern part of the Ashavan Realm
- West of Vanarana
If you’d like to see each spawn spot in more detail, check out the Genshin Impact Interactive Map.
There are also several different Fungi you may find throughout these regions. Below are some you may encounter:
- Floating Dendro Fungus
- Floating Hydro Fungus
- Grounded Hydroshroom
- Stretchy Anemo Fungus
- Stretchy Geo Fungus
- Stretchy Pyro Fungus
- Whirling Cryo Fungus
- Whirling Electro Fungus
- Winged Cryshroom
- Winged Dendroshroom
Alongside Inactivated Fungal Nucleus, there is also a chance you’ll find Fungal Spores, an ascension material for Tighnari. Furthermore, depending on your level, you may also pick up Luminescent Pollen, Dormant Fungal Nucleus, and other high-tier materials. Try to avoid fighting high-level Fungi to boost your chances of getting Inactivated Fungal Nucleus.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS devices through the official website. If you’re interested in finding more 3.0 Update materials, check out Where to Get Fungal Spores, Luminescent Pollen, and Crystalline Cyst Dust.
