Amnesia: The Bunker has a somewhat short, but nevertheless interesting story. It’s carefully layered, and you are given small bits incrementally so that you can gradually assemble the full picture (or rather, a puzzle) in your imagination about what the heck is going on in this World War 1 bunker. One of the main concerns is, of course, the origin and identity of the enemy that is being referred to as Beast, Monster, or Stalker in the Amnesia community. “Know Thy Enemy!” the saying goes, and Prima Games is ready to bring you the uncanny news about who your enemy is in Amnesia: The Bunker.
What is the Identity and Origin of the Stalker Beast Monster in Amnesia: The Bunker?
There are different theories about this, but at any rate, it all points to the sentiment that Lambert, our comrade from the intro, is actually the main antagonist in Amnesia: The Bunker. If you recall, during the intro, you dropped down to the big crater and gave Lambert some water.
Now, it’s unclear whether you potted the water from the nearby totally-not-sus puddle of water, if Lambert drank it beforehand, or if there was something else going on. But one thing’s certain, Lambert started gaining supernatural strength and with it, started losing his mind.
Lambert was the one who saved our protagonist, Henri Clement, and afterward, turned into the Beast and went all brutal on his comrades. However, the last surviving soldier you speak to does not reveal this specifically, and when you think of it, the message on the Generator refers to it as “*redacted* who hates the light” which then tells us that there’s a missing puzzle piece on how and when Lambert made the full transformation.

Is Lambert Really The Monster Beast in Amnesia: The Bunker?
One more proof that the Monster (Beast in the official Achievements, Stalker in a portion of the community) is Lambert, is the stuffed bunny/rabbit toy. You find the Rabbit Toy in that very crater from which you once got Lambert out at the start of the game, in the intro tutorial. As you can see in the screenshot below, the text reads “Might have sentimental value to someone.” There are achievements regarding this toy which you should have a look at as well if you’re a completionist:

If you throw the toy in front of the Beast, it will stop, pick it up, and play with it for a while. That’s the exact percentage of sanity that was left in the Monster before you killed it.
Do you feel sorry for killing Lambert now? Or do you cope with the fact with an excuse such as “He’s too far gone, that’s not him anymore, he wanted to kill me!” or “OMG I didn’t know!!!”? Thanks for hearing out this theory.
