Fortnite is out now on iOS with a limited invite event and players have been diving into the game since it’s release yesterday evening. Some players have reported issues with the application crashing, though. If you’ve run into any issues, then grab yourself a seat and let’s dive in and figure out why Fortnite mobile keeps crashing.
Why does Fortnite Mobile Crash?
There are a number of reasons that could lead to a crash for any mobile application, this becomes an even bigger issue to contend with when you bring a massive game like Fortnite to mobile devices. If you’ve been having problems with your Fortnite mobile app crashing, then there are a couple of possible reasons.
First, make sure you’re running iOS 11. Anything lower than this won’t allow the app to run as well as it needs to. The latest update for iOS at the time of this writing is 11.2.6, so if you’re running the latest updates, then you should be good to go.
You’ll also want to make sure that your device is on the compatibility list. Here’s a full list of the devices that you can play Fortnite on right now.
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6S / 6S Plus
- iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad Mini 4
- iPad Air 2
- iPad 2017
- iPad Pro
We’ve seen some reports of players trying to play Fortnite on their iPhone 5 or iPhone 6. Unfortunately, these devices don’t support the game and do not have the necessary power to run Fortnite on them. If you’re playing on one of these devices, then the only real option available is to look into upgrading to a new device.
Another big issue that users have reported is that opening the app and trying to play it without first redeeming an invite can cause it to crash as well. Because of this, players should hold off on launching the app until after they have redeemed their invite code. You can also try restarting your iPhone if you’re continuing to have issues. This will clear the memory cache, which could clean out any errors that might be happening in the background.
