Every monster hunter knows the importance of their arsenal, and nothing defines the gameplay of Wild Hearts more than the weapon you choose to wield. Like the monster hunting games before it, Wild Hearts has a handful of different tools to down the wild beasts that roam the lands, each with their own move sets and playstyles to fit your needs. Though, not every weapon is available to you from the start of the game – you’ll need to put in a little legwork to gain access to them all. Here’s how to unlock all weapons in Wild Hearts.

Wild Hearts: How to Unlock Weapons
At the time of this writing, there are eight weapons total in Wild Hearts, and you’ll have access to most of them early on. They are:
- Karakuri Katana
- Nodachi (Greatsword)
- Bow and Arrow
- Maul (Hammer)
- Bladed Wagasa (Bladed Umbrella)
- Hand Cannon
- Claw Blade (Dual Blades)
- Karakuri Staff
You’ll immediately begin the prologue with the Karakuri Katana already equipped. After defeating Ragetail, you’ll meet Natsume, where you’ll learn how to build a Field Forge.
Field Forges allow you to craft other weapons and armor and, upon interacting with one, you’ll be able to craft the next four weapons: the Nodachi, Bow and Arrow, Maul, and Bladed Wagasa.
To unlock the remaining three weapons, you’ll have to progress through the main story for a little bit. Specifically, you’ll need to complete the first chapter and interact with a Field Forge once you’ve started the second chapter. Completing Chapter One of the story involves a few steps:
- Hunt the Kingtusk to access the village of Minato.
- Defeat the Spineglider at Natsukodachi Island.
- Defeat the Lavaback and the Gritdog.
- Defeat the Earthshaker.
Once finished, and after the following festival, you can speak to Natsume at the Forge to unlock the remaining three weapons: the Hand Cannon, Claw Blade, and Karakuri Staff.
