Diablo 4 is right around the corner, with its release scheduled for June 6, 2023. Besides the planned Server Slam from May 12-14, you’ll have to wait slightly longer before you can defeat the many evils that lurk across Sanctuary. Its release is currently planned for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Specifically with regards to that last one, many wonder which storefronts will host the game. Here is whether Diablo 4 will be available on Steam.
Can You Play Diablo 4 on Steam?
As it stands, Diablo 4 will not be on Steam at launch. Instead, it will be hosted by Activision Blizzard’s in-house launcher Battle.net. This is the same platform that hosts other games like Overwatch 2, Starcraft 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, alongside many other Call of Duty games. Some of the games that are on Battle.net have come to Steam (Crash Bandicoot 4 and Modern Warfare 2 2022 being two noteworthy ones), though no Steam page for any Diablo game currently exists.
Unfortunately, Diablo 4 won’t be on Steam at launch, but that doesn’t rule out its introduction to the platform entirely. Activision Blizzard hasn’t specifically stated that the game will never come to Steam, so there’s a chance they do it for higher sales. Until they say otherwise though, that is pure speculation. Plus, Battle.net is a surprisingly stable launcher as far as PC launchers go. Plenty of features and a clean layout help to keep it from being frustrating.

In the meantime, you can pre-order Diablo 4 on Battle.net through three separate editions. The Standard Edition will score you the game, while purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition brings four days of early access and the premium seasonal battle pass. The Ultimate Edition also brings 20 tier skips alongside an extra emote. You can read more about the differences through our Diablo 4 Edition differences guide.
