Winter Holiday Part One has officially begun in Pokémon GO, which means it’s time for plenty of icy rewards. Instead of some Special Research this time around, Trainers can get their hands on some Timed Research challenges tied to a new ticket.
To participate in the research, you’ll have to shell out $5 for the Winter Holiday event ticket that can be found in the shop. Without the ticket, you won’t get the research challenges in the event, but you can still catch all of the themed Pokémon in the wild. If you choose to buy the ticket, you can read below to see all of the Timed Research challenges and their rewards in Pokémon GO.
All Winter Holiday Timed Research Rewards – Pokémon GO
There’s no surprise that most of the challenges in the latest set of research are tied to Ice-type Pokémon, and so are the rewards. Four steps make up the Timed Research in total, and some decent items like Incubators and a pose are involved. All four steps and the rewards are listed below.
Winter Holiday Timed Research 1/4:
- Walk 2km – Snover Encounter
- Catch 10 Pokémon – Spheal Encounter
- Catch 10 Ice-type Pokémon – Seel Encounter
- Rewards: Sneasel Encounter, 1 Incense Lure, 50 Mega Abomasnow Energy
Winter Holiday Timed Research 2/4:
- Walk 2km – Swinub Encounter
- Transfer 10 Pokémon – Delibird Encounter
- Catch 10 Ice-type Pokémon – Cubchoo Encounter
- Rewards: Galarian Mr. Mime Encounter, 1 Incubator, 50 Mega Abomasnow Energy

- Walk 2km – Vanillite Encounter
- Send 7 Gifts to Friends – Stantler Encounter
- Catch 15 Ice-type Pokémon – Snowy Castform Encounter
- Rewards: Galarian Darumaka Encounter, 1 Incubator, 50 Abomasnow Energy
Winter Holiday Timed Research 4/4:
- Hatch an Egg – Alolan Vulpix Encounter
- Catch 8 different species of Ice-type Pokémon – Alolan Sandshrew Encounter
- Catch 15 Ice-type Pokémon – Lapras Encounter
- Rewards: Galarian Mr. Mime Encounter, Gifting Pose
Because this is timed in Pokémon GO, you’ll only have until December 30 to complete all of the challenges and claim your rewards. That gives you about two weeks from the start of the holiday event in GO before the rewards and the ticket go away forever.
