Contest mode for the latest Destiny 2 Raid Root of Nightmares is over, the dust is settled, and the team has been crowned a champion for the World’s First Race. So now, Bungie has decided to talk a little bit about all of the players who hopped into the raid for the first 48 hours and tried to take down the new Root of Nightmares raid. Let’s see how everyone faired.
Bungie posted these statistics in its blog post, where you can also read an interview with the winning team, Hard in the Paint. You can also enjoy some fun fan art and memes shared by the community.
Bungie Reveals Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid Player Statistics & Y’all Died A Lot
So let’s take a look at how you all faired in the Root of Nightmares Raid.
- Total players that entered the raid:
- 582,428
- Total hours spent in the raid:
- 4,550,022
- Total Guardian deaths:
- 84,177,812
- Players that cleared Cataclysm:
- 361,633
- Players that cleared Scission:
- 315,036
- Players that cleared Macrocosm:
- 249,731
- Players that cleared Nezarec:
- 197,694
- Unique players that cleared the full raid – i.e., players that got all 4 reward events:
- 190,459
Contest Mode is challenging, and seeing that less than half of the players that entered cleared the final encounter makes sense. Now that Contest Mode has been lifted; I’m sure more and more players will clear the barrier and finally take down Nezarec once and for all.

Whether you died from an enemy or accidentally fell off the arena’s edge, you contributed to something much greater than yourself. You made these numbers go up; as gamers, we love when the number gets bigger. So congratulations, Guardians.
Did you complete the raid? How did you stack up in these Statistics? Destiny 2’s Season of Defiance is only a few weeks underway; there’s still plenty for players to encounter, including two weeks of Iron Banner coming up soon.
