The latest Pillars of Eternity adventure picks up five years after the events of the original game and builds off of the same systems that were put into place in the first game. One important system you’ll want to take advantage of, is the crafting system and learning how to craft in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. In this article we’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started and learn how to craft in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire.
How to Craft
Crafting in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is done through a special crafting menu that can be activated at any time by clicking the mortar and pestle icon on your HUD. This will open up the Recipe window. Here you can see all the crafting recipes in Deadfire, as well as what items you’ll need to craft them.
Why should you craft items, though? Well, the answer to this question is simple. Crafting items allows you to open new avenues for your party, as well as allows you to boost specific stats. For example, many of the food items that you can craft in the crafting menu will boost your ship’s crew morale, making them less likely to have any issues. This is an important stat to balance out as you play through Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, so make sure you’re doing your part to keep it as high as possible.
On top of items like food, you can also craft things like bombs and magical scrolls. Scrolls can be used to cast offensive, defensive, or even passive spells that will increase specific things for your party members, or give you access to special spells for a limited time. It’s a useful way to expand your arsenal that doesn’t rely on using skill points, and it can make a huge difference in more difficult battles.
When you know what item you want to craft, head to the Crafting Menu and then find the item that you want to craft. You’ll be able to see the ingredients beside it, as well as a description of what it does when used. From here you can select the amount of the item that you want to craft, and then choose to craft it. This will make the item and place it in your inventory. Now all that’s left to do is equip it to your party members and then use it when the time is right.
