There’s been a lot of talk lately about difficulty settings in game. It’s easy to attribute the discussion to the age old “git gud” argument, when in actuality the topic is a good one to have on the table for accessibility reasons. In recent years, there’s been a huge push in making games more accessible to all, including those gamers with certain disabilities, and making key changes to a title’s UI and difficulties can be a huge help with that. While FromSoftware is pretty known for their brutality in-game, one modder decided to take the matter of varying settings into their own hands with the addition of an “Easy Mode” and unlocked framerates.
This mod is for PC since the console versions of the game don’t currently have mod support, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon. According to the mod’s creator, “A small utility to remove frame rate limit, add custom resolutions with 21/9 widescreen support, change FOV, borderless window mode, display and log stats (OBS) and various game modifications. Patches game’s memory, does not modify any game files, works with every game version, should work with all future updates. Also available on github.”

The Nexus Mods listing also provides a detaile dguide on how to unlock the game’s frame rate, though it is a little detailed so for first-time modders, you’re going to want to make sure you back up all of your game info in case something goes wrong.
One particular feature of this mod that is pretty fun to play around with is the ability to speed up (or slow down) the game and / or the player themselves. Slow everything down for an “Easy Mode,” or speed everything up for a unique challenge. This mod is perfect for those players wanting to tailor their experience.
