When you’ve been gaming for a long time, you get used to some things that might not be so normal to non-gamers, if at all. Some expressions and even game names that sound commonplace to us may sound very strange to the uninitiated, but there is also a special category of games with titles that are ridiculous even to us – in the list below we have selected the 8 best examples when game names went way too far into the ridiculous zone.

So here we go; eight best examples of ridiculous video game titles we could think of, starting from the bottom of the list:
8. Infinite Undiscovery
It is known that while many Japanese developers may not have been well-versed in the English language, they really wanted to give their RPG titles catchy names. Often times, the English dictionary would be cited with randomly-searched words, however, this may not be one of those times, as I can’t seem to find the word “Undiscovery” in Merriam-Webster. It may be a ridiculous title with a made-up word – but it’s still a decent RPG from Tri-Ace.
7. Big Mutha Truckers 2: Truck Me Harder
And now we enter the full cringe zone with the sequel to the Big Mutha Truckers, the action-racing game that contains trucks, scantily clad women, as well as a suggestive name – all of which in the mix simply screams 2005. The golden age of chauvinism, nothing more to be said here.
6. Super Ultra Dead Rising 3′ Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α
Okay, this one is kinda intentional. Capcom is making fun of itself here with the countless re-releases and revisions that each of its Street Fighter games had. Dead Rising is a silly game in itself, so the name of this DLC is not a surprise and is in good fun, but imagine telling someone the full name of the game when they ask you what you played last weekend.
5. Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties
This can hardly pass as a game, as it’s more of an interactive movie for the Panasonic 3DO console popularized by YouTube legend AVGN. It is described as an adult-oriented “romantic comedy” visual novel/dating sim, and it’s on our list primarily because of one of the most ridiculous names ever put on… anything. Apparently, a remaster was announced in 2022?!
4. Untitled Goose Game
Sometimes during development, games have temporary project names, and sometimes developers are simply not imaginative enough to come up with a game name, so those project names linger much more. The authors of Untitled Goose Game didn’t even want to name their game because they wanted Goose to do all the talking… or honking! A nice game, but I’m not sure if would it be funnier if it was called Goose Simulator 2019.
3. 7th Dragon III Code: VFD
It’s the 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. I mean, what part of the title you don’t understand?! Is it the seventh game in a row, or is it just the seventh dragon out of how many dragons? Where are the other six? What about the Roman numeral III, is it the third installment of the game? Wiki says it’s actually fourth… and VFD? What does it even stand for? SO MANY QUESTIONS! Maybe we won’t find the answers to this mystery in this lifetime, but what I can say for sure is that OST for this one is a complete banger, composed by one and only Yuzo Koshiro.
2. Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel
The Japanese just love to invent new fictitious languages in anime series and sometimes in games. It’s okay. But when that gibberish ends up in the title and subtitle of the game, and it still doesn’t get a new name when localized for the West – then we have this. Just imagine saying this out loud in like, any situation. This gem is made by Gust, a studio that deserves a separate list for all the ridiculous names of their Atelier titles, just look any of them up. But seriously, if someone walked up to me and said Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel I would probably call the crew from Ancient Aliens, or just slap them.
1. Kingdom Hearts
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the reigning and defending heavyweight undisputed champion of ridiculousness – Kingdom Hearts! It’s not that the name of Square-Enix’s Disney cross-over series is so wacky in itself, rather that this series simply keeps on delivering terms of nonsense sub-titles, like; “358/2 Days”, “Dream Drop Distance”, “0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage” – do you need more? Because there’s more. How about “Unchained / Union χ” (what the hell is even χ?), and “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version” just takes the ball and goes for the touchdown.
