Game Science is a Chinese developer and while Black Myth: Wukong still doesn’t have anything close to a release date. The team did share a 12-minute gameplay segment that is running on Unreal Engine 5. The gameplay shows off some more of the combat and world design.

We see Wukong fighting a monkey with a giant sword, and even a dragon. Both the visuals and fluid gameplay are a sight to behold. The game is set in 16th century China and features plenty of Chinese folklore as you can see in the video.

More specifically, Black Myth is an interpretation of the Monkey King from Journey to the West. The gameplay seems to fit somewhere between Dark Souls and a Devil May Cry. The combat is flashy, punishing, and the animation is simply brilliant.

While we have no idea when this game will come out, every time Black Myth is shown, it looks better and better. We are excited to see more from the game hopefully soon, but who’s to say.

This video is running on Unreal Engine 5, which is an upgrade from last year’s footage which was running on Unreal Engine 4.
