Ever since The Last of Us HBO TV series was confirmed, fans have been wondering how closely it will honor the source material. For those hoping to a more true-to-game experience, we’ve got some good news, because the game’s creator has confirmed that this isn’t an off the wall spinoff or interpretation.
For those that have played the first game, the two main characters – Joel and Ellie – were put through absolute hell. In a world overrun by mindless enemies, the society that thrust Joel and Ellie together is one that was broken and rife with loss. According to Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, the show will follow familiar characters and he teased that info drop in the most nonchalant way possible:
And now you have Ellie, Riley, Tess, Marlene, Maria, ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️, and a few others! 😉 https://t.co/GMozU0TaZE

Ellie and Riley had me sold right here, but we’re definitely curious about the “a few others” ending to that tease as well. For those that may not have played through the Left Behind experience, Riley’s name being included in the character reveal is especially interesting, especially since that’s when we first learned about Ellie’s sexuality thus giving her even more layers in terms of real-life personal experience, which is a big part of why the story was so guttural.
More will be revealed soon about the upcoming The Last of Us TV series from HBO which brings up some pretty awesome conversation about who our dream picks would be. What sort of story are you hoping to see with the upcoming series? Hit us up with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames!
