The ultimate crossover Smash-like game MultiVersus will possibly be making its big comeback very soon as we’ve finally had a small update after months of absolute silence. The Warner Bros live-service fighting game’s official X account is finally active again, hinting at the game’s long-awaited official release.
This was the account’s first activity in months ever since access to the game was disabled back in June 2023. The game was already unable to be downloaded since April, but servers kept running for a while so everyone could have an extra shot at completing their Battle Passes or doing a last dance with their favorite characters.
Many people were shocked when the game suddenly vanished after its Open Beta period was over, most likely because many believed it was already the full game. But as was stated before, MultiVesus would only see an official release in 2024. Here we are now, so it was imminent to see some news on its current state to come out sooner or later.
With the account officially back, we’re now looking at the possibility of new announcements in the next few days, such as an official release date with even more characters entering the insane tussles this game can provide.
Bringing over beloved characters from the numerous Warner Bros properties, MultiVersus was a huge hit for a while during its initial Open Beta period in 2022 with its enticing platform-fighter gameplay, a decent amount of playable characters, and high-quality models that (in most cases) showed a lot of respect for their original iterations, delivering that sweet fanservice where it was due.
But just as it quickly arose to popularity, its player base was swift to abandon it after no substantial updates were introduced. That was also probably one of the reasons people were shocked when it was suddenly “gone”. It’s up to Warner Bros and the dev team in Player First Games to deliver us something that keeps us entertained in a world where live-service games are constantly wrestling themselves for dominance.
