Starbreeze has announced that its first-person shooter, Payday 3, will have an open beta, but it’ll only be available for Xbox and PC players.
The technical open beta will run from September 8 – 11, and one playable heist will be available before the game’s full release later this month. Since this is an open beta, you don’t need to purchase anything to participate in it, and it’ll be available for everyone to download.
In addition to being free, the beta will feature the following playable characters: Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf. According to a press release, each character will have “their own unique skill set.” The heist players will be able to load into is called “No Rest for the Wicked,” and you’ll be tasked with “liberating a small bank of the cash cluttering up their vault.”
Per Payday tradition, there’ll be multiple different ways you can go about performing the heist. Some options include going in guns blazing or sneaking your way in while trying not to set off alarms. All difficulties will be playable during the beta, but the Infamy level will be capped at 22, and the Weapon Level Progression is maxed at 8. It’s also worth pointing out that according to the Payday 3 FAQ, all of the progress you make during the beta will not be carried over to the game’s full release.
