According to a recent news report from CNN, Bethesda is set to introduce Kinect support to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim later this month.  But don’t think you will be doing any motion kills.  Instead, the update will allow you to vocally work with your Kinect to shout commands in the game.  And, yes, this includes the dragon shouts, such as the aforementioned “Fus Do Rah!”

Skyrim’s update will also support Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands and the ability to run through menus, including Items, Magic, Map, Barter, Container, Favorites and Skills.  You can also verbally create and load saves during gameplay, as well as the option to sort your items, without needing to use your controller.

When it came to integrating Kinect support for the game, Microsoft was pleased. “Working closely with the talented team at Bethesda, they have done an amazing job of honoring the core gameplay functionality fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim know and love and using Kinect for Xbox 360 voice control integration to complement and strengthen the core experience without changing the fundamental game mechanics,” said GM of Xbox Marketing Matt Barlow.

The vocal support will be available in five languages – English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, depending on region – and the first US one is set to drop April 23.  And Bethesda isn’t quite done yet. “We’ve got more Skyrim news coming,” Bethesda added. “Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work on creating the first set of game add-ons that will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. This additional content will add new quests, locations, features, and much more to the world of Skyrim. Stay tuned for more details.”

Stay tuned for more details.  FUS DO RAH!
