Skyrim Team Moving On To a New Game

Minor updates will still be made to the game, but it's time for something new.

For the past year and a half, the team behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been updating its magical world with a number of stellar downloadable packs, as well as fixes that sustain the game’s smooth style of play (more on the Xbox 360 than the PlayStation 3, but it’s getting there).  But now it’s time for the team to move on to a brave new world.

In a blog over on the Bethblog page, the team explained that they’ve loved working on Skyrim over the past few years, thanking for the fans for all the support they’ve given to it and enjoying all the updates they’ve made.  But this isn’t goodbye, just an indication that the team is about to start a new project, possibly for next-gen platforms.

That isn’t to say the adventure is over for Skyrim.  Minor updates will continue to be made to the game as time passes, though no new DLC is currently planned.

Still, there’s always room for heading back in and adventuring again.  (We still didn’t kill all the dragons we wanted to.)  It’s immensely replayable, especially as you learn all the new spells.

Thanks to the Skyrim team for delivering such a masterful game.  We can’t wait to see what they cook up next.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
