After a successful year of an Early Access build, Sons of the Forest is finally receiving an official release date for its 1.0 version scheduled for next year, alongside a surprising casting for a previously minor character that will seemly take the spotlight in the game’s final build.
Sons of the Forest will be officially released on February 24th, 2024. The first release patch will include new gameplay features, polishing in certain areas of the game and, of course, an extensive update to the story, which includes more development to Timmy LeBlanc, who will now be voiced by an unexpected celebrity.
Shawn Ashmore, known for his roles as Lamplighter on The Boys, Iceman in the X-Men movies, and Wesley Evers on The Rookies, will be voicing the character that is now getting his role expanded in the main story, as it was already speculated due to his detailed model and suspicious appearances and actions throughout the game.
He might become the newest companion for the player, considering how we only have two of those now, or maybe he could get a more antagonistic role considering how he seems to be scheming something for a while.
As was mentioned by developers in their official announcement, the game will continue to be worked on throughout the next days by implementing new hotfixes as needed, and the team will shift their focus to creating more new content for the 1.0 release, which may include new areas, companions and of course, strange creatures for you to find.
Sons of the Forest was released one year ago in its Early Access period and was immediately popular being the long-awaited sequel to the original The Forest, as well as featuring even more sinister survival situations in a secluded island that you can, of course, enjoy way better when you’re with some friends.
