Tomb Raider Won’t Be Getting Any Additional Single Player Downloadable Content

There will be new multiplayer stuff, but not much else in the story of Lara Croft.

Ever since it came out earlier this month, Crystal Dynamics’ effective reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise has been faring very well with gamers, selling well over two million units.  But those of you expecting to see Lara in story add-ons will be in for a rude awakening.

Crystal Dynamics has no plans to release additional single player story content for the game, though extra multiplayer maps are in the works.

Speaking through a Reddit AMA, director Noah Hughes addressed the downloadable content situation.  “Currently there are no plans regarding single player DLC,” he stated.  “Now that Lara is more experienced, we are excited to take her on new adventures that challenge her strength and confidence.  It is important that even as Lara grows as a character, so do the challenges she must face.”

Global brand director Karl Stewart added, “All of our DLC is based around the multiplayer experience for now.”

For those of you who want more multiplayer, the Caves and Cliffs pack did just release for Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft points ($5).  No word yet on when it will come to PS3 and PC, but we expect it will come soon.

Tomb Raider is available now.
