Many may remember A Way Out’s dev Josef Fares for his infamous moment during the 2018 Video Game Awards where he flipped the bird directly at the camera. Oh, and his amazing game. It looks like the team behind A Way Out, Hazelight Studios, has another new experience in the works and the reveal has been teased ahead of the planned EA Play showcase.
Fares took to Twitter to share the first teaser, teasing a teaser (teaseception) before the EA Play showcase commences on June 18th:
A short tease about the next game on #EAPlayLive 18 june. Don’t miss it!
— Josef Fares (@josef_fares) June 15, 2020
We don’t know if Fares is hosting the tease or not, but given his performance back in 2018, we sure hope so. Do it for the memes, Fares, do it for the memes!
So far, we don’t know anything about what the new game could possibly be about, though the goodness is that the first reveal will be taking place later this week. Since we don’t have to wait too long, it’ll be nice to see what he has next up his sleeve, especially following the success that A Way Out saw.
As for this year’s EA Play, which will be entirely digital this year due to COVID-19, the adventure kicks off on June 18 at 4 PM PT. “EA Play Live 2020 is about connecting players around the world and bringing them closer to the game franchises they love,” reads the event’s official description. “During this year’s digital event, we’ll showcase our games through a live broadcast, community content, and more.”

FIFA, the new Call of Duty, and more of the traditional reveals are expected, especially concerning EA’s annual releases. Star Wars Squadrons was also just announced with a cinematic trailer, so it’s likely that we will be seeing some actual gameplay footage during the show as well. As for what else EA has planned, we have only speculation, but we’re excited to see if the company does a little more to spruce up their EA showcase now that it’s entirely digital with no in-person fanfare due to the cancelled E3.
