How to Dismiss Party Members in Baldur’s Gate 3
To dismiss a party member in BG3, talk to them while in the overworld and ask them to return to your camp. After their initial hurt response, confirm your choice to send your companion back to camp, booting them out of your party in the process. Now, you can recruit another person to join or return to camp later and ask your old party member to rejoin.

It’s also important to note that since you must speak to your companion to dismiss them, you won’t be able to send dead characters back to your camp. You’ll have to pay Withers to revive them before initiating the conversation.
There are several benefits to dismissing party members. In particular, it allows you to swap out characters or recruit a Hireling. If you find one of your companions too weak or doesn’t fit your current setup, this is an excellent chance to find others to take their place. You can even invite another player to join if you’d like, but this results in you being together for the rest of your playthrough.
