Feather Fall is an incredible handy spell in Baldur’s Gate 3 that allows you to drop down massive pits without taking any fall damage. It’s a life-saver for a couple of different jumps throughout the story, like safely making it to the Underdark from below the Blighted Village, for example. Sadly, not everyone can learn this spell, but that doesn’t mean your Feather Fall days are over. There are other ways to get Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3 without relying on a class to learn it.
How to Learn Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3
Feather Fall is a level 1 Transmutation spell that can be learned by the following classes:
- Bard
- Sorcerer
- Wizard
- Eldritch Knight
- Arcane Trickster
If you are any of the above classes, you won’t have to worry about finding other means to get your hands on Feather Fall. Simply select it next time you’re leveling up if you haven’t already. If your character isn’t one of the above classes, there are still workarounds you can use to get Feather Fall.
Where to Find Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3
The earliest way to get Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to purchase the Scroll of Feather Fall from Arron at the Hollow in Druid Grove. Druid Grove is accessible very early on in your adventure. Just make sure you purchase it before making any drastic decisions that could leave the area abandoned.
The Scroll of Feather Fall is a very handy item, but it can only be used once. If you’re looking for a more permanent way to get your hands on the spell, you could look for a pair of enchanted boots in the Underdark.
The enchanted boots in question are called Mystra’s Grace. You can find them hidden in the Arcane Tower in the Underdark. Of course, these are only accessible after already making the life-ending drop from the Spider Den in Blighted Village. If that was the reason why you were looking for Feather Fall in the first place and you didn’t get the Scroll while you could, you will have to find another way to reach the Underdark. Have a look around the Goblin Camp to find another entrance.
Jumping down the massive pit into the Underdark isn’t the only time you will need the spell, however. Finding these boots will be extremely helpful for all sorts of other instances throughout your adventure, so locating them is still worthwhile. On a balcony on the right side of the Arcane Tower, you will find a chest named the Chest of the Mundane. At first glance, the chest appears to only contain useless items. Collect them anyway and watch the Mystra’s Grace boots miraculously appear in your inventory.
If you’re struggling to make it through the Arcane Tower, our Arcane Tower walkthrough will help you complete your quest.
The last enchanted item that will grant you the use of Feather Fall is called the Corvid Token. The Corvid Token is sold by Mattis. Getting the opportunity to buy it relies on you keeping him alive throughout Acts 1 and 2.
How to Craft the Potion of Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3
The last way to get your hands on Feather Fall is to simply make it yourself.
You can craft the Potion of Feather Fall after collecting a resource called Autumncrocus. You can find your Autumncrocus on the road between Waukeen’s Rest and the Risen Road. Finding these flowers will unlock the ability to craft the Sublimate of Autumn Crocus. Combine this with any Essence to create your very own Potion of Feather Fall in Baldur’s Gate 3.
