Redcaps are vicious little demons, aren’t they? Murderous, blood-sucking, and a little one-note. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be helpful, especially when the mental abilities of the Kuo-Toa empower them.
What is BOOOAL In Baldur’s Gate 3?
BOOOAL is a redcap who is worshipped by the Kuo-Toa of The Festering Cove as their God of Murder. The Kuo-Toa worship has enhanced his strength and made BOOOAL much stronger than a normal Redcap.
How to Find BOOOAL In Baldur’s Gate3
In order to find BOOOAL, you need to locate the hidden entrance to The Festering Cove. Your journey should begin from the Underdark – Beach location. Ascend the scaffolding to the top, then head southeast and stick to the left side of the path. Beware of glowing orange Torchstalks that can cause harm. Use ranged attacks to take them down. Reach the cliff, jump down using the enormous mushrooms and interact with the Cragged Rock to proceed further.
This will take you to The Festering Cove, where you will encounter BOOOAL and his band of Kuo-Toa worshippers.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Kill or Serve BOOOAL in the Festering Cove? – Answered
When you find BOOOAL in the Festering Cove, he’s quickly revealed to be a red cap. But through the fervent and deeply misguided faith of the Kuo-Toa, he’s ascended to bloody godhood. A big step up for a red cap who was likely washed away from the nearby Teahouse, where he used to pretend to be a sheep.
But with your arrival, BOOOAL’s divinity is on the line. Your conversation with BOOOAL can go in four directions.
- BOOOAL and the Kuo-Toa turn hostile. Receive a lot of experience.
- BOOOAL alone turns hostile. Become the new god to the Kuo Toa.
- You sacrifice one of your companions to BOOOAL. Receive the permanent buff, BOOOAL’s Benediction.
- You agree to help BOOOAL. Receive the Sickle of BOOOAL.
The absolute best decision is to fight BOOOAL. Perhaps even fight all of the Kuo-Toa. That’s because the rewards aren’t really worth it.
By offering one of your companions to BOOOAL as a sacrifice, you’ll get BOOOAL’s Benediction. This passive will give you an Advantage on attack rolls against bleeding enemies. However, you won’t be able to resurrect your sacrificed companion. Their presence is likely more beneficial than the buff. To sacrifice them, you’ll need to fight them and kill them. And yes, the rest of your companions help out. Et tu, Brute?
The Sickle of BOOOAL is a 2D4 rare Sickle, and it has an Advantage when attacking Bleeding Targets. It’s not a particularly good weapon, and you likely have better on your companions already.
The best choice is to fight BOOOAL by himself, at least from a story and approval perspective. To do this, tell the Kuo-Toa that their god isn’t real. BOOOAL’s disguise will falter, and you’ll then need to pass a 15-saving throw on Persuasion, Intelligence, or Strength.
Finally, you’ll need to tell BOOOAL you’ll take the power for yourself. Any other decision will cause the entire Kuo Toa camp to turn on you. You can opt for this, as you’ll get more experience, but it’s funnier if the fish people start worshipping you.
Unfortunately, you don’t get anything more than your own group of disciples as a reward. But if you explore to the far south of the map, you can find a really sad letter from Doni the Tiefling.
