Here, you and your team will face a bunch of new enemies, including the Breeder, a large spider-like creature that’s a huge pain in the neck.

Thankfully, we have a few tips that will help you out when dealing with this monstrosity, as well as other terrors introduced in this terrifying chapter. Happy hunting!

Weapons are Key – and You Coincidentally Need a Key

Throughout this map, you must find special lockers that contain powerful weaponry that you can use to turn the tide. However, in order to access them, you’re going to need keys.

Thankfully, keys pop up at random throughout each stage, though some dwell in dangerous territory. The key (pun intended) is to be patient. If there are aliens to contend with, take care of them – or better yet, have your team deal with these critters. This’ll give you the necessary time to run over and collect the key, then run back to the locker.

These weapons vary, including assault rifles and other explosive goodies. There’s no question they’ll help you turn the tide on the alien invaders.

Don’t be afraid to share the wealth, either. If you have a teammate running low on ammo or knows how to handle weapons of this magnitude, go ahead and let him or her pick it up. Don’t be greedy – you’ll have the opportunity to grab a key and run wild with a special weapon.

Beware the Blue Teleporters

The original aliens make their return in Nightfall, but in this new chapter, you’ll also contend with a different enemy. These advanced aliens glow light blue and have the ability to teleport. This can be a real hassle when it comes to getting them in your sights, only to suddenly appear and hit you with a cheap attack.

When dealing with these guys, it’s vital to coordinate with your team and try to pin them down before they have a chance to move to another area. A few well-timed shots should do the trick, but once they vanish, keep an eye open on where they’ll pop up. It could literally be right behind you, so make sure you have someone watching your back.

It’s important to take these guys out when others come at you. The reason for this is because the teleporters are unpredictable, compared to the regular enemies. Take care of them first, then clean house.

Attack the Hives and Complete Challenges

Taking out Hives is key in Nightfall, not only because you make progress on pushing back enemies, but also because of special challenges.

For instance, in one part of the stage, you’ll need to destroy a hive in order to access a special weapons locker located right above it. Trying to run through it is suicide, so destroy it first, then grab the special weapon inside.

In addition, destroying hives allows you to earn new challenges. These can be difficult to get through with an inexperienced team, so hold off on accepting them until your squad is good and ready. Some will have you guarding a stationary point, while others require a certain level of accuracy.

For these challenges, stick to single firing rate and try to hit your shots as best you can. Don’t forget to use your knife as well – these are practically guaranteed kills, and will help maintain your accuracy.

Bring on the Breeder

Finally, after clearing away the Hives and those pesky aliens, you’ll have to contend with the big mother– the Breeder.

The first thing to recognize are its attacks. It’ll charge up and spew a barrage of bullets your way. When you see it prepare for this, find cover – behind a building, under some rocks, anywhere. Otherwise, you’ll be instantly killed by the gunfire. The beast also fires red orbs from its tail, which rain down toxic mist in certain areas of the map. Watch where these attacks go, and avoid these areas until they’re clear. Otherwise, you’re dead. It also launches yellow eggs that hatch aliens, and they’re a pain to deal with while focusing on the Breeder. Destroy them as soon as you can.

Sentry guns are a huge asset in this fight, provided they’re facing the Breeder head-on, since its face is the primary weak point. Point these suckers directly at its ugly mug. Otherwise, save the turrets for secondary duty, like wiping out eggs.

Use your special weapons from the lockers whenever you can. Eventually, the Breeder will make a run for it, and you’ll need to face off against a horde of aliens before running into it again. Destroy the last of the Hives as soon as possible, as you’ll want to make sure the area is clear of smaller aliens before running head-on into the Breeder.

Deal more damage to the Breeder when it returns, but watch out for waves of enemies when it climbs up the building (usually when it’s down to half damage). It’s here where you’ll utilize your special weapons, as well as turrets to survive the fight. The Rhinos are particularly tough when they charge, so be prepared to move quickly.

As the Breeder returns, keep an eye out for flower-shaped Hives on the ground. These are small and easy to miss, but they are essential for the Breeder to continue fighting, as they act as fuel. Destroying them will assure it continues taking damage, so make them a priority while avoiding the Breeder’s attacks.

Stick with these tactics and keep laying down the firepower, and the Breeder will be good as dead, concluding the Nightfall chapter. Good luck!

Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught is available now for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and will release soon for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
