Every class in Last Epoch has a couple of Mastery options you can choose to further specialize your build. But you may not like the way the specialization feels down the line and this guide will cover what you can do about changes.
How to Use a Different Mastery in Last Epoch
You need to make a new character in Last Epoch if you want to change your Mastery. There is no way to change the specialization of a character once you choose. That means you need to stick with the path you have chosen or get started on a fresh character. Nearly everything else in Last Epoch has a respec option, such as the Mastery passives themselves when you look at the tree. But you need to be careful about this singular choice.
The good news is that choosing a Mastery happens fairly early into the game. When you reach level 20, you should have more than enough Passive points in your first class tree to unlock the next Mastery section. This is the best way to reach the secondary tree for players who simply want to grind. However, the campaign leads you there as well.
Once you reach the end of Chapter 4, you can choose your Mastery, regardless of your progress on the first class Passive tree. On my initial Rogue class, I chose the Marskman Mastery and I haven’t looked back since. But if I want to try the Bladedancer, it’s time to make a new character.
How to Create a New Character in Last Epoch
In the title screen, you can enter Last Epoch and choose to make a new character for the standard realm or Hardcore. Standard characters can play the default version of the game without worrying about real consequences. Hardcore characters will be permanently gone if you die. Choose which version is for you and then move on to the classes.
There are five classes to choose from each have a couple of Mastery options. For the time being, though, it’s just the class that matters. Once you pick, there are no customization options for appearance, so it’s time to start grinding out your levels.
