Your Base is the place that you’ll frequent the most in Palworld due to the amount of crafting, production, and Pal management that you will juggle as you play. But your Base begins to feel cramped fast, and you may be wondering if you can build multiple bases in Palworld.
How to Build Multiple Bases in Palworld
Fortunately, you can build multiple Bases in Palworld. Currently, you can have up to three bases planted anywhere around the world map, but the game is still in Early Access and the ability to add more Bases may be added in the future.
To build a second Base you will need to level up your first Base to level 10 by completing the Base Upgrade missions that can be located by interacting with your Palbox. After that, you’ll be able to build a third Base after completing even more missions and leveling your initial Base to 15.
These Base Upgrade missions consist mainly of crafting different items from the Technology menu, that you will have likely built to use at your Base anyway. So, the progression between multiple bases can be achieved through natural gameplay.
Once you’ve upgraded your first base to the appropriate levels, you can construct a second or third Palbox, and then just like the first, placing them down will create the boundary of your new Base. If you’re like me, it’s very likely that you built your first Base in a less-than-desirable area out of excitement. I thought the Base would look rather crafty amongst ruins, and that it does. But it also wastes a lot of space that could be utilized much more efficiently. The second time around, I chose a much better location.
Choosing a Location for Your Base in Palworld
There is a vast array of things to consider when choosing the best location for your Base in Palworld. The most important thing to consider is how open or closed off you want your Base to be. There are benefits to choosing a flat, wide-open space. This allows you to use every single inch of the area and maximize productivity. But it leaves you wide open to be raided by Pals and humans alike. Whilst a closed-off area may provide you with less space to work with, but you will have less area to secure; especially if you are building against a cliff, or a similar impenetrable object.
If you don’t need the extra operations a third Base would provide, you can use your third Palbox as a mobile waypoint. Keep the materials to build a Palbox on hand in your inventory (1 Paldium Fragment, 8 Wood, and 3 Stone), and you can set down your third Palbox whenever you need to make a quick return to one of your bases or elsewhere. Your third Palbox can then be broken down from the world map and used again.
Once you have decided on that, you will want to consider the number of resources in your immediate vicinity too, and also the kinds of resources that you want to have easy access to. As well as the variety and number of wild Pals in the area. For example, it’s a good idea to try and find a location that has multiple ore deposits in the vicinity, as you’ll be needing to refine an endless amount of ingots for most mid- and late-game items.
Regardless of where you choose to set up your Base, it is good to know that it doesn’t have to be forever, and you can move your Base to a different location. This means that you are not locked into any location, and you can experiment to your heart’s desire.
