Starfield is a very graphically impressive game, and paired with Bethesda technology, you never know if you’re going to get a rock-solid 60 or a framerate that is going to flop around like a space-fish out of water. While the Xbox Series X|S versions of the game are locked at a steady 30FPS, PC gamers who have kitted out their rigs with the most high-end of parts can expect their experience to be a little more freeing than that. However, if you’re experiencing some wonky framerates, you may be hoping that you can cap it at a specific level to avoid this from happening. Let’s find out if you can.
Can You Cap Your Framerate in Starfield On PC?
After searching through the settings menus that Starfield brings to the table, I was unable to find any option to cap your framerate. This, unfortunately, means that you’ll likely need to either adjust your graphical settings to hit a steady framerate or deal with the fluctuations as they happen.

While this may come as a surprise to some, it seems the overall accessibility features of Starfield seem to be lacking overall. Lacking some basic features such as a Brightness/Gamma slider and even more legible maps than previous games, it would have almost been more surprising to see this game launch with an FPS cap.
While the lack of an FPS lock is saddening, the Long-Hauler in me is more disappointed about the HOTAS support in the game. I can deal with some fluctuating frames since I’ve been gaming on my PC since the early 2000s, but not being able to haul my cargo with the help of a flight stick? Sacrilegious, I say.
