If you’re looking to get to the meat of the story, or are aiming for a world-record speed to complete this game, knowing if you can skip a cutscene in Tears of the Kingdom could make or break a purchase. The world of competitive Speedrunning in Breath of the Wild was always an impressive feat to watch, so fans eager to get back into the lands of Hyrule to do the same may be wondering this simple question. We’re here to help you figure out if you can, and how you can skip cutscenes in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Skip Cutscenes In Tears Of The Kingdom
There are going to be some cutscenes that can be skipped, while others may not give you the prompt to do so. Depending on the context of where you are, and what kind of cutscene you are viewing, there are multiple ways to skip them. If you’re in a Story Scene and want to try and skip, you’ll first want to hit B on your controller of choice a few times. If you’re able to skip it, you’ll see a “Skip +” in the bottom right corner of the screen. Press the Plus button to skip over this particular portion of the story.

However, if you’re exploring the world and have come across a reoccurring cutscene, like in a Shrine, you’ll need to view it at least once. After this, however, you’ll be able to skip over it by pressing the X Button on your controller of choice. This can help speed things up, especially since some of these messages can be a bit long-winded.
Can You Skip The Blood Moon Cutscene?
One of my biggest complaints with Breath of the Wild was the Blood Moons. Not the concept, because the idea of them is really slick: all of the enemies that you have defeated, sans bosses, return onto the map, making the world much more dangerous again. But rather, needing to sit through a lengthy cutscene to see the same information over and over again every time they happened got a little old.

Thankfully, this time around, you can skip the Blood Moon cutscene after viewing it once in Tears of the Kingdom. This can help out in a variety of ways, but especially for those trying to speedrun the game… or those that just don’t have the patience to hear the same explanation once again.
