Destiny 2’s first DLC adds quite a bit of new content to the game, including a new social zone, as well as a new planet for players to explore and fight on. Along with the new planet comes a new Public Event, which like all of the Public Events in the base game, can be turned into a Heroic Public Event. Today we’ll go over everything you need to know to kick off the Public Event in Curse of Osiris, and even how to turn it into a Heroic Public Event.
How to Trigger the Mercury Heroic Public Event
Players can access the new Public Event on Mercury as soon as they’ve beat the first mission in Curse of Osiris. After you gain access to the landing zone, head there and then make your way straight out of the Lighthouse. You should spot two Vex standing at attention nearby. Walk up to them and wait until the Public Event Flag appears. Once you trigger the event, head towards the inner ring of the Fields of Glass.
At this point enemies will begin to spawn to your left and right from some portals. Kill the enemies until a yellow bar Vex called the Keeper of Ages appears. You’ll need to pick up the Orbs that this enemy drops and take them to the two warp gates near where the enemy spawned. Once that is done, head to the other side and repeat the process.
Once you’ve used the orbs on the portals, you’ll need to wait for the catapult to turn around. After it has turned around fully, jump up on top of it and make your way onto one of the islands on either side of the area. Here you’ll need to kill the Keeper of Ages Present (or Past) and then pick up the orbs that it drops, and drunk them into the center of the island. This will make a Vex object attackable near the back of the platform. Shoot this to create more platforms to jump onto. From here, follow the platforms to the top of the island and activate the Vex plate on the roof.
This will cause the Heroic Public Event to trigger, and a Vex Gate Lord will spawn with a shield. Kill the enemies around the Gate Lord and then take the orbs that they drop to the back gates from the first portion of the Public Event. Catapult up to the roof of the central island, and then dunk the orbs to make the Vex Gate Lord’s shield drop, allowing you to damage it. Continue this process until you take down the Vex Gate Lord and complete the event.
