As you make your way into the bogs of Louisiana with a chunky old weapon in hand, ready to eliminate any creature coming your way in Hunt: Showdown, you may be hoping you can call on a bit of extra help from your friends. The only problem is, they’re on a completely different system than you, and it’s feeling near impossible to finally eliminate this gigantic foe that is waiting before you. Can you bring them into your world, or join their party, no matter the console or platform you’re playing on? Or will you be stuck trying to convince them to jump the fence into a new system? Continue reading to learn if Hunt: Showdown has Crossplay.
Can You Play Hunt: Showdown Cross-Platform With Friends?
The simple answer is both yes and no. If you’re playing on a console, you’ll be able to jump into a game with your friends on the opposite side of the field. This means that players jumping in on Xbox will not need to purchase a PlayStation console and another copy of the game to enjoy the unique take on monster hunting that is put on show here.
However, if you are playing on a PC, you’re going to need to either convince your friends to jump into the realm of PC gaming, or you’re going to need to get yourself a console and a copy of the game to play alongside them. There is currently no crossplay support for PC, and it doesn’t seem that there are any plans to bring this over to the platform.

While it would be nice if players could jump into some of the PvE events on PC with their console friends, it seems that the developers do not want to add in a half-baked version of Crossplay that will only work with specific modes. Since Hunt: Showdown is both PvE and PvP, they likely do not want anyone to have a particular advantage over one another.
Does Hunt: Showdown Support Cross-Generation Play?
If you’re hoping to play with a friend on a current-generation console, you may be wondering if this will be allowed. Thankfully, both the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 can join into a game with their previous generation counterparts with no penalties or issues. This is great news for those hoping to take advantage of the graphical capabilities of their new console while jumping into the game with someone who hasn’t been able to upgrade their setup yet.
Does Hunt: Showdown Offer Cross-Progression Between Consoles?
If you’ve been playing Hunt: Showdown on your PlayStation 4 and recently have decided that you want to upgrade to either the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S family of consoles, you may be hoping that you can bring your save file over to your new console. If you’re hoping to do this, however, you’re going to want to stay within the same console family.

While Cross-Play is a thing between consoles, the ability to transfer your saved information to a different brand of console is not. This means that gamers that have put countless hours into a copy of Hunt: Showdown on the PlayStation 4 will need to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 if they’re hoping to keep their progress, as their character, gear, add-ons, etc., will not transfer to a different console family.
