Last Epoch 1.0 is the official release of the game outside of early access, and many players may be wondering whether they can use WASD movement yet. This guide will cover what movement is available in the game and why.
Can WASD Movement be Used in Last Epoch?
The answer is no, Last Epoch 1.0 will not have the option to play with WASD movement. This has been a frequent request from some players based on forums, but the Eleventh Hour Games developers have been very clear on their stance. There are no plans to bring an option for WASD into the game in the near future.
Eleventh Hour Games gave their input on a Reddit thread for Last Epoch saying, “I’m sorry to say that we recently debated adding this in a game design meeting. We are intentionally not adding WASD movement to Last Epoch at this time. We still appreciate getting feedback from players who do and don’t want to see this added to the game. It will not be a 1.0 feature.”
In the past, the Eleventh Hour Games team has commented on WASD and why it won’t be in the game for the time being. According to them, it offers an advantage because you can move and I’m in different directions. This would force players who enjoy the classic movement to change their playstyle if they want to stay competitive.
Of course, controller input is already implemented in Last Epoch and can also change directions while aiming in another. Eleventh Hour Games believes that controller already has enough shortcomings that it wouldn’t become the best input. So, for now, don’t expect to see WASD added to the 1.0 launch of the game.
