Warhammer 40K: Darktide is currently planned to release both on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with the Xbox Series X|S coming at a later date than the PC launch of November 30. With that, many players of two different inputs will be jumping into the Hive City of Tertium to rid it of the billions upon billions of heretics that inhabit it. If for whatever reason you want to play on a controller, you may be wondering if the game supports it. Here is whether Warhammer 40K: Darktide has controller support.
Is There Controller Support for Darktide?
To keep it simple, yes, Darktide does have support for playing on both PlayStation and Xbox controllers. Merely connect your controller to your PC how you do normally, and you’ll be able to play within moments. While you can play on a controller though, there are several caveats at the time of writing you’ll need to consider. Nothing the team won’t fix, but issues that will likely be present at the game’s launch.
The first is the lack of ability to change controller keybinds. While the Keybindings menu lists off all the keybindings for keyboard players, the controller options are oddly missing. This means whichever controller options are default, you’ll need to stick with. The other major issue comes from potential keybinding switches between matches. A few users have reported the buttons for performing certain actions will change between missions, though this is a fairly rare issue. Still, it’s something worth considering.

If you wish to play on your controller though, for the most part, that is possible. You’ll need to sacrifice a few things of course, but sometimes having that joystick over a mouse just feels better for you. That’s okay, even if the majority of people tend to not agree with that.
