Clear the Elixir Well is your first big mission in Enshrouded. It will take you deep into the Shroud, right into the path of the first boss monster, a Fell Thunderbrute. This is an early-game mission, so you are going to be pretty low-level when taking on this challenge. In this guide, we will walk you through the entire quest from start to finish so you can clear the Elixir Well and progress with your Enshrouded adventure.
How to Clear the Elixir Well in Enshrouded
The Clear the Elixir Well quest walks you through the process of destroying the first of many Shroud Roots that scatter the Embervale region. Shroud Roots are large, tree-like structures that exist deep within the Shroud, producing the gaseous substance that poisons the air. You can chop Shroud Roots down with an axe.
Once you’ve unlocked the Blacksmith, summoned him at your base, and set up his shop, you will receive the Clear the Elixir Well quest. Enshrouded offers very accurate quest markers on the map that can be extremely helpful, so open up your map to find out exactly where you need to go. Place a waypoint on the quest marker so you can follow it via the compass along the top of the screen.
The Elixir Well is east of Braelyn Bridge, but you will need to prepare before heading into the Shroud.
The first thing you will need is a weapon or two. Weapons don’t last forever in Enshrouded, and you don’t want your only one to break mid-boss fight and leave you defenseless. Always take a backup. You should also prepare some food to bring with you. Cooked meat, water, and berries or mushrooms are a good place to start.
Head to Braelyn Bridge once you’re all geared up and set off on your adventure. As you reach the mouth of Braelyn Bridge, you will see a small path branch off and wind into the Shroud below. Follow that path and take the next right. Continue until you reach the Elixir Well site.
The site is swarming with Fell enemies. There are quite a few opponents here, so if you’re a Ranger, finding a high spot and picking a few off with your bow is a helpful tactic. If not, try to lure individual enemies away from the others to avoid getting overwhelmed. You will also find a potion inside a wagon on the right side of the square that will replenish your time in the Shroud if you’re starting to run low.
Run up the stairs after defeating the enemies and jump down the hole in the ground. Follow it to the bottom, making sure to pick up the silver chest on the way. Once you reach the bottom, head straight forward and prepare for battle.
How to Beat Fell Thunderbrute in Enshrouded
The Fell Thunderbrute that awaits you at the bottom of the Elixir Well is a strong and fearsome enemy, especially that early in the game. Thankfully, fighting it becomes easier once you understand its moves. The Fell Thunderbrute has three main attacks:
- Kick: Fell Thunderbrute will pull out this move when you’re fighting in close-range.
- Sword Slam: The boss will raise its sword above its head before slamming it into the ground, creating a shockwave that destroys the ground and anything else nearby.
- Sword Slam Slash: The last move combines the Sword Slam with two wide slashes beforehand.
The best way to take down the Fell Thunderbrute while taking the least amount of damage is to stay close to the enemy. The Sword Slam move has a wide area of effect, and sticking close to the sides or even behind the boss is the best way to avoid it. Continue dodging around to the back of the enemy while swiping to deal damage while avoiding attacks at the same time.
Once the boss has been defeated, loot the remains and equip your axe. Chop down the Shroud Root to complete the quest.
