Bethesda has officially launched Fallout 76 Season 1 and with it comes a new way to play with other Vault Dwellers online. The new Fallout 76 Public Teams feature will allow players to receive all kinds of bonus stats simply for playing with their friends and working towards a common goal. In this guide, we are going to explain how to join a Public Team, as well as what kind of bonuses your group can receive.
Fallout 76 Public Teams – How to Play with Friends
Vault dwellers can join a Public Team in Fallout 76 by navigating to the “Social Menu” and selecting the “Public Teams” tab. From there, players will be able to see all the available groups in their server, or can start their own. Each team can have up to four members in it, who can work together towards a common goal, receive special stat bonuses, and more.
Each Fallout 76 Public Team will have a leader that is responsible for setting a goal for the group. Depending on the goal, the team will earn a variety of stat bonuses that will make their task a bit easier. Each stat buff is a bit different and will depend on the bonds that players have formed with their teammates. There are six different Fallout 76 Public Team bonuses that the leader can choose from when forming a team, which can be seen in the list below.
Perk: | Bonus: | Bonded Bonus: |
Hunting | 25% more XP for Legendary kills | Up to 100% more XP |
Roleplay | +1 Charisma | Up to +4 Charisma |
Events | 25% more XP for completing events | Up to 100% more XP |
Exploration | +1 Endurance | Up to +4 Charisma |
Building | +1 Intelligence | Up to +4 Intelligence |
Casual | +1 Luck | Up to +4 Luck |
As indicated in the table above, as groups play together, they’ll begin to form a stronger bond over time and can earn better buffs. Since this is a new feature, it’s unclear exactly how quickly the bonuses will be increased, but Bethesda has stated that bonds can be formed over a short period of time, so it seems like you’ll start to see buff increases fairly quickly as your Public Team ventures out into the wasteland.

The Fallout 76 Public Teams feature was released alongside Season 1, which will allow players to complete a variety of in-game challenges to earn all sorts of rewards. The process is very similar to that of a “battle pass” and will allow players to work their way through a 100 tier reward ladder, with new items being unlocked every time a player ranks up.
