Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.3 introduced a wide variety of new content for players to enjoy, from raids and dungeons, to treasure maps and mounts. Additionally, the Island Sanctuary side content also received a handful of new updates, including new materials to gather, landmarks to construct, and animals to capture. One such rare animal is the Tiger of Paradise, which can only be captured when certain conditions are met on your island. If you’re looking to catch this exotic feline, keep reading to learn how to catch a Tiger of Paradise in Final Fantasy XIV’s Island Sanctuary.

Capturing Animals in FFXIV Island Sanctuary
In order to capture an animal in Island Sanctuary, you’ll need the correct restraint depending on its size. The Tiger of Paradise is considered a Medium sized animal, so you’ll need to craft yourself a Makeshift Restraint to catch one. To craft the restraint, you’ll first need to reach Rank 6 in your Sanctuary while gathering the following materials:
- 3 Island Hemp
- 1 Island Copper Ore
Craft yourself a Makeshift Restraint and switch to Capture mode to equip it.
Capturing the Tiger of Paradise – Time, Weather, and Location
Unlike the more common spawns that appear based on a window of Eorzean time or the current weather, the Tiger of Paradise is only seen during both the correct time and weather combined. Essentially, this means that you may only get a few attempts per day to even spot the beast out in the wild. To find the Tiger of Paradise, you’ll need to hunt between the hours of 6 PM to 9 PM Eorzean Time during the “Fair Skies” weather pattern. The current weather can be checked by hovering over the small icon attached to your minimap. If those two conditions are met, head over to the northwestern side of your island around the (X: 15, Y: 14) coordinates to spot this elusive cat.
Approach the Tiger of Paradise from behind and use your Makeshift Restraint to attempt a catch. If successful, you’ll find your new friend back in the pastures of your Island Sanctuary with your other captured animals. Make sure to keep the Tiger of Paradise well-fed and happy, as they’ll drop Sanctuary Fang leavings for you to collect once per day.
