FFXIV: How to Get Island Cave Shrimp in Island Sanctuary

The Island Cave Shrimp is obtained through Sanctuary Expeditions to the Crumbling Cavern areas of the Island Sanctuary. You unlock this expedition objective after reaching Sanctuary Rank 12 and unlocking the Mountain Hollows area. Your mammets need to be equipped with the Mammet-sized Spelunking Tools, also introduced alongside that same area, to be able to get you some fresh shrimp.

Once you unlock this new area, something that takes some good grinding and special expansions to your personal paradise, you can visit to grab some new resources previously unavailable in other areas. Expeditions to this location will always give you at least one Island Cave Shrimp, but can also yield some other regular items such as Island Effervescent Water and Island Glimshroom.

The Mammet-sized Spelunking Tools, which are needed to start this expedition in the first place, can be made with the following materials:

  • 10 Island Palm Log
  • 10 Island Iron Ore
  • 10 Island Quartz
  • 10 Island Resin
  • 10 Island Wood Opal

These are all regular resources that you can find around the starting locations of the Island, so you won’t have much trouble crafting it.

What Does the Island Cave Shrimp Do?

The Island Cave Shrimp is used for making Isleworks Bouillabaisse alongside some other ingredients. It can also be traded to get more Seafarer’s Cowries for a lot of those exclusive items from the island, such as the cute-but-not-so-innofensive Island Alligator.
