Crafting in Final Fantasy 16 is a bit strange. Many resources in the game are widely available, and you’ll never have to really think about obtaining them. However, a few resources in Final Fantasy XVI are more difficult to come by. Orichalcum is one of these precious resources. Here’s how to get Orichalcum in FFXVI.
Where to Get Orichalcum in FFXVI
Orichalcum is used for a few different recipes in Final Fantasy 16. You can get Orichalcum from the Atlas S Rank Hunt from the Hunt Board which unlocks pretty early on in the game. If you don’t have access to the hunt yet, you’ll need to progress the main scenario a little bit more until it shows up. Once you have it unlocked, you’ll need to head to Martha’s Rest in the Imperial Province of Rosaria and then make your way to Cressida on the eastern side. You can take a look at the map below.
Once there, you’ll be tasked with taking on Atlas, which will be level 45 on your first playthrough or 85 if you’re on New Game Plus.
Defeating Atlas will grant you an Orichalcum, and you’ll be able to craft something from Blackthonre, the Blacksmith at the Hideaway.

Some of the other S Rank hunts will grant your Orichalcum as well if you need more down the line. However, this is your first opportunity to grab some, so be sure to do it as soon as possible.
The rest of your Orichalcum will not be available until you make it to the “Back to the Origin” Queslitne in the main scenario. This will unlock the rest of the S Rank hunts that reward Orichalcum, as well as a few new sidequests.
Here are the other spots later in the game you can obtain Orichalcum
- The Behemoth King Hunt
- Svarog Hunt
- Gorgimera Hunt

We recommend stocking up on potions beforehand to ensure you have the healing required to take a few hits. Atlas really dishes out damage.
