The Loaded Spear is one of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’s Shinobi Prosthetic Tools, and a handy one of that. A multi-hit move, the Loaded Spear can tear the armor of certain enemies, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. Unlike most prosthetic tools, you’ll need to do a bit of work to earn the Loaded Spear, but in this guide we’ll teach you how to get it.
You won’t be able to get the Loaded Spear until you’ve reached Ashina Castle, and that means beating both Gyoubu Oniwa and the Blazing Bull. If you’re not up to that stage yet, come back to this guide once you’ve beaten them both and reached the castle.
From the Ashina Castle Idol, turn backwards to the short bridge and look to the right. You should see a tree branch ahead that you can jump and grapple to. Follow this path to the bridge ahead with two soldiers on. Eavesdrop on them and they’ll let you know they have the key to the guardhouse where the spear is stored, and that you can use the spear to tear off the armor on an enemy ahead. Stealth kill one and overpower the other to obtain the key, then backtrack to the Ashina Castle Idol.
This time, pass through the gate and turn left at the remnant in front. Follow this path then drop down the large hole inside the building. Exit and you’ll find the Ashina Reservoir idol. There are a couple of guards and dogs ahead, so take care of them then climb up onto the wall. There are a lot of enemy soldiers in the next area, as well as two ogres. If you take the path to the left of the wall, grappling to the tree branches then climbing the high wall, you’ll be able to sneak behind their lines. Watch out for the monkey as you climb over the wall, he’s camouflaged near the grass but will alert all the enemies if you don’t stealth attack him first.
Either take down the remaining enemies or stay hidden and make your way to this building (it’s on the same level as the monkey). This is the same building you snuck under at the start of the game when rescuing your lord, but this time you’ll be able to get inside. Open the door with the key and duck inside to grab the spear part from the chest. There’s also a Coin Purse, so make sure you grab that too.
With the spear part in hand, return to the Dilapidated Temple and speak to the Sculptor to install the Loaded Spear Shinobi Prosthetic Tool. Looking for more of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’s prosthetic tools? Here’s our guide to finding the Loaded Axe.
