How to Get Squirtle

Like our previous guides on how to get Bulbasaur and how to get Charmander, players looking to acquire Squirtle for their Pokémon collection will need to rely on rare Pokémon spawns, which can be found by exploring the world of the Kanto region in Pokémon: Let’s go Pikachu and Eevee. To find and catch this famous Pokémon you’re going to need to explore along Route 24 and Route 25, as well as explore Seafoam Islands.

The best way to increase your chances of running into Squirtle as you explore Route 24, Route 25 and the Seafoam Islands is to make use of a Lure, which you can purchase from the PokéMart in any town after you’ve beat a certain number of gyms in Pokémon: Let’s Go. Once you have purchased a Lure, activate it and it will increase the spawn rate of Pokémon in the area around you, increasing the chances that one of the Pokémon that spawn in the areas you’re exploring is the one that you want.

Of course, Lures aren’t guaranteed to work all the time, and you could still find yourself taking several moments to find and catch a Squirtle in Pokémon: Let’s Go. If you find the task too tedious you can always wait until you reach Vermillion City, where you can speak with Officer Jenny near the Poké Center. Here you can acquire Squirtle for free so long as you’ve caught a total of 60 Pokémon or more.
