Alan Wake 2 is right around the corner, set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 27. However, seeing as it’s a fully-priced game, you may be wondering just how much content you can get out of it.
Here’s how long Alan Wake 2 takes to beat.
Alan Wake 2 Game Length
While we don’t have direct stats to work off of yet, Sam Lake has said previously that the game will be 20 hours or longer in length. During the KindaFunny Games Daily podcast, Lake discussed the game’s length during the segment “Can too many games be too much?”. At the 50:30 timestamp, Lake talks about Remedy games “traditionally being quite short, like 10 hours or so” and says the game was always trying to make longer games. To that end, the game will be longer than even their longest game Control. Once we have real-world experience to go off of, we’ll update this article accordingly.
It’s worth remembering that Lake didn’t confirm whether the 20-hour timeframe was referring to purely story completion, or to other factors such as finding collectibles or any possible side content. While their previous title Control is only about 12 hours in length, those wanting to do all the side content could easily spend double that time. It’s likely he means mainly story content, but we’ll have to wait and see.
While I’m the type of person who prefers shorter, meatier games to play, I’m open to the idea of the game being 20 hours long. If they can keep the experience fresh for that long, especially with the prospect of two playable characters, it could be more than worth the price. Either way, I’m a big Remedy fan, and I’m excited to check it out either way.
