Toby’s probably the biggest bro this side of Junon, and the least we can do is help him out. Here’s how to complete The Hardest Sell in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7).
How to Beat The Hardest Sell in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (FF7)
Toby wants one thing in life: hanging out at an abandoned lighthouse. Who can blame him? But unfortunately, a person claiming to be a “merc” has holed up inside and is refusing to leave. Toby wants you to go over there and tell them to get lost.
But if you haven’t unlocked this quest yet, never fear. To do so, you’ll need to go to Under Junon and start the quest When Words Won’t Do, found at the community board in the Fish’s Net tavern. Once you’ve successfully completed this quest, you’ll be granted access to the Crow’s Nest. Toby will then ask for your help, and he’ll walk to the center of town, where you can then speak to him to get The Hardest Sell jumpstarted.
Once you’ve agreed to take the quest, you’ll need to head to the lighthouse at the very southern tip of Junon. You can only access the path to the lighthouse through the Crow’s Nest. Just head south through the town and follow the rough trail. It’s completely linear, so you can’t get lost.
When the lighthouse is in view, you’ll see that it’s connected to the mainland by a rope bridge. And while Cloud and Tifa are surely forever traumatized by rope bridges, we have no choice but to cross. At the end of the bridge will be a broken Chocobo Stop. You should repair it to ensure you get that Golden Plume. With that done, use your Chocobo to climb your way to the top.
The lighthouse is decorated with ample balloons. And you’ll need to climb up a series of stairs to get to the top, where Kyrie is waiting for customers. Kyrie’s full-on pouting about how poorly her ad campaign is going and decides to show off her advertising jingle, which she’s hoping will drum up some business.
Instead, it drums up some enemies, which you’ll need to fight one after the other. In order, those are:
- Two Flan.
- Three Flan.
- Three Ignsilisk.
- Four Flan.
- Two White Mousse.
The Flan are downstairs, and at first, there are only two. Defeat the two, and three more will spawn. Fortunately, we have plenty of experience fighting Flan. But if you need a refresher, they’re weak to Fire and will become easily pressured if you use Fire types against them. There’s also a rare chance for them to drop Ether Onions.
Once all five Flans are dead, you’ll encounter three Ignilisk. Ignilisk are weak to Blizzard. When the three Ignsilisk die, you’ll face off against four more Flan. When you’ve finally destroyed the last Flan, you’ll encounter your final fight. Two White Mousse will appear.
White Mousse are mutated flans that have no weaknesses but are immune to your most common debuffs. However, you can Pressure them with elemental attacks. But doing so also causes them to develop a resistance and begin absorbing those elements. Once they gather enough energy, they will unleash a powerful magic attack.
The best way to counter White Mousse is to use a wide assortment of magic attacks. So, use a Fire attack, a Blizzard attack, an Aero attack, and a Lightning attack, one after the other. It should only take three Elemental attacks to Stagger a White Mousse, or two plus a few whacks with your standard attack. The second Elemental attack will increase the White Mousse’s pressure gauge significantly.
Once the White Mouse is staggered, it will no longer be resistant to the elements it was resistant to before. So, you can spam the same Elemental attack pattern all over again. It’s possible that the White Mousse will also Poison you, so having Esuna or Poisona on hand isn’t a terrible idea, but it’s not really necessary.
With the White Mousse dead, you’ll get an entire Kyrie-inspired Chocobo outfit which is adorable. Toby will then run up worried about you and be surprised that you’re okay. He won’t reward you, but you get 500 EXP, 10 Party Points¸ and your relationship with Red will deepen.
