Look, some things aren’t intuitive. And that’s certainly the case with Kindling in Palworld—here’s how to find it.
How to Find Kindling in Palworld – Location Guide
Kindling is a work type that certain Pals have. If you assign a Pal with the Kindling work type to your base, they’ll automatically seek out a task that requires kindling.
Picture this. You’re just getting the hang of the game. You’ve got a nice arsenal of weapons, maybe even some nice warm clothes. Your base is slowly coming together. And then you get the bright idea to craft ingots. Ingots are the key to better armor, better weapons, or even an automated sphere factory.
But once you actually manage to craft your furnace, you run into a problem. The furnace needs kindling. That makes sense, right? But you can’t throw wood at it. And there’s no answer in the Surivor Guide. This is the precise issue I ran into, and it took me a hot minute to figure out the answer: Kindling is a work type for your Pals.
That is to say, it’s one of the 12 potential “jobs” a Pal can have when working at the base. You can see what characteristics a Pal has while in the Palbox. And while the icons can be painfully small, they each indicate a particular role that Pal can play.
Some Pals can only have one job. Others, like Tanzees, seem to be inclined towards many jobs. It must be those opposable thumbs. But when it comes to kindling, Fire-element Pals are the way to go. And the more numbers beside that little fire icon, the better
Foxparks, for example, are a Fire-type Pal which frequently come with the kindling work type. And, even better, they can be found near the second fast travel point, Grassy Behemoth Hills, north of where you start the game. They’re one of the possible spawns around the church, and they’re easy to spot at dusk and at night.
Once you’ve found a Pal that can do the job, equip them to your base. But note, if you equip them while it’s night, they likely won’t begin working until day hits.

What is Kindling Used for in Palworld?
You’ll need Kindling in Palworld for various activities that require the use of fire. Some of the most important activities that use Kindling are:
- Staying warm: for both you and any Pal eggs you have in your possession. If you’re hanging out in a cold area, your health will start to drop unless you have something like a campfire to keep you warm.
- Cooking food: you’ll need a steady supply of food to stave off hunger for you and your pals.
- Powering furnaces: you’ll unlock the ability to use furnaces around level 10, which need Kindling to keep running. Furnaces will allow you to smelt ore and refine ingots to craft more advanced items.
