Helldivers 2 is an incredibly satisfying third-person shooter — when it’s working. While PlayStation fans can jump in and get to work, PC players have been experiencing some crashes and issues, so let’s get to fixing those.
How To Fix PC Crashes on Helldivers 2
It’s understandable to be frustrated that you can’t get into a game you’ve just purchased, let’s see if we can’t get you back up and running and squishing some foes with your buddies no matter where they’re playing.
1) Update Your Graphics Drivers & Software
Depending on the type of Graphics Card you’re using, you may want to make sure that all of your Graphics Drivers are up to date. AMD and NVIDIA release updates rather often, and even if you have it set to auto-update, you may still need to go in and do it manually. Make sure that you’ve downloaded the following software to keep yourself up and running:
Once you have ensured you’re up to date on your Graphics Drivers, it’s time to go onto the next step.
2) Restart Your PC & Check For Updates
Next, you’ll want to give your PC a quick restart. This could help eliminate any random bugs that are creeping around in the background — technology needs to take a break often, as well. Giving your PC a restart could resolve some of the issues that you’re seeing not only with Helldivers 2 but with other software that you may be experiencing issues with. If you still can’t launch the game properly, it’s time for the next step.
3) Verify Your Game Files on Steam & Reinstall Your Game
Something could have gone wrong during the installation process, and it’s unfortunately fairly common that this happens with Steam. You can easily verify your game files to see if there is anything that went awry during the installation process. This could easily resolve your issue and get you back into the game, but you may need to go further than this if everything gets the all-clear.
If you’re still experiencing issues after verifying the game files, you may need to do a full reinstallation of the game. While this may take time to do, this is going to be the likeliest way to get you back into the action without needing to worry about a thing.
4) If All Else Fails, Wait For A Hotfix
This is always the worst part of a buggy PC launch, but developers are always working on making sure that their games are up to snuff. If you want to keep an eye on the progress that the team is making, I would suggest checking out the following pages;
Now that you’ve hopefully gotten your game up and running, let’s hope you don’t run into the failed to join game lobby error, as that would just be rubbing salt into the wound.
