After you’ve completed the third Shrine on Great Sky Island, it’s time to return to the Temple of Time with the locked door: the place marked on the map with the “Find Zelda” quest. Right after you exit the Gutanbac Shrine, where you learned the Ascend ability, you will find some Zonai Wings scattered on the ground. From that cliff, it is possible to fly away, or more like glide away, to the location from the beginning. To learn how to fly on Zonai Wing in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, keep on reading.
How to Fly the Zonai Wing in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
You will not need to add Zonai Parts to the Wing right now because the Wing itself can glide without additional propulsion methods so save your Zonai Fans. All you need to do is to pick it up with Ultrahand, rotate it so that the nose of the aircraft is facing the cliff, and drop it in the middle of the rails – similar to when you placed a Minecart on the rails just before. As soon as the Wing touches the rails, if placed correctly, it will start moving on its own towards the cliff. Quickly jump on it before it takes off, position yourself right on the circle in the middle, and off you go!

The Wing will keep gliding slowly across the map heading in one direction, but after some time, it will start pulsating in green, indicating that it will soon disappear completely – be sure to jump off it before it does! As this happens at the beginning of the game and you cannot soften the fall, the only way to safely get off the Wing in flight is to jump when it is above some water surface and then use the analog stick to direct Link to that body of water. To get down sooner, hold R to dive faster, but to steer Link while falling, you need to be in a free fall, so dive only when you have water right below you.
Later in the game, it is possible to make much more complex aircraft and have more elegant ways to land using the Glider. But at the very beginning while you are on Great Sky Island and have no means of quick travel unlocked yet, this way will speed up the return to the starting position needed to finish up a few quests before it lets you out into the open world.
