How to Get Every Horse Mount in FFXIV

With the horse mounts, in particular, this is about the six horse mounts you can get in A Realm Reborn. Every patch cycle, a new set of unique mounts are released that correspond to the six Extreme trials players must overcome. After collecting all six horses, you’ll be given a special Kirin mount as a bonus for completing the collection.

To get each of the horses, you will need to complete the Extreme version of the following A Realm Reborn trials:

Markab: The Striking Tree
Xanthos: The Howling Eye
Enbarr: Lord of the Whorl
Aithon / Nightmare: The Bowl of Embers
Boreas: Akh Afah Amphitheatre
Gullfaxi: The Naval

Nightmare is a bonus horse that has a rarer drop rate than the others. It does not count towards the six needed to obtain Kirin; however, it’s a cool black horse worth seeking.

You’ll need to have completed the A Realm Reborn main scenario quests and be at least level 50 even to take up the extreme trials. You’ll also need to speak with Urianger in the Waking Sands to unlock the trials.

The horse mounts are not guaranteed drops so you’ll probably have to run these trials over and over again. Luckily you can do them unsynced to speed up the grind significantly. Grab a friend and start grinding away to collect all of the extreme trial horse mounts.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get the horse mounts in FFXIV. We have plenty of helpful guides about mounts like how to get the Nier pod mount and the Hippo Cart mount.
